Summer makes fashion easy and life shinny- Long nights, loud music, flip flops, short shorts, beaches, holidays, sunscreen and SUNGLASSES !
Sunglasses or Spectacles, are one accessory that can never go unnoticed as its wore on your face (unless you are Mr. Salman Khan of Dabangg! :P) Spring-Summer or Autumn-Winter eyewear stays up and close to each one of us, every season. Long gone are days when eyewear was just the need of the sun kissed or the nerdy. And Luxottica India knew exactly how to celebrate the most visible accessory’s ‘Fall Winter Collection’.
Flamboyant Dolce & Gabbana, colorful Versace, bold Giorgio Armani, sharp Burberry along with Ray Ban, Vogue, Oakley & Prada- these 8 focus brands of the day were placed immaculately over white crisp sheets for the special preview. The collection was undoubtedly showcased in the most exclusive manner at The Cannaught, Oberios Hotel, over some toothsome canapés and vino.
The collection was not about the usual but the fancy and the flamboyant. Each piece had a distinctive appeal and design to it.
With diffident floral, glamourous glitter, fierce cat eye and colossal proportions, the collection had a candid influence from the past.
For those who are nascent to Luxottica, Luxottica India Eyewear is the subsidiary of the worlds largest eye wear company, Luxottica group with HQ in Milan, Italy. Every country is known for its expertise and Italy is known for its eyewear said, Mr. Amitabh Sehdev, Head- Marketing, Luxottica India. Every piece is manufactured in one plant situated at a beautiful valley, 5 hours away from Milan, named Agordo, he added.
Luxottica group, internationally has over 35 eye wear brands out off which 18 are at hand’s to the India shopper. Luxottica is the reason you have Coach, Prada, D&G and other eye wear brands available even though the brand doesn’t have a company store in Indian and even when DLF Emporio hadn’t change the luxury market scenario. Thats because all these brands like Burberry, Versace, Armani are licensed to Luxottica to be manufactured in their plant. To my surprise, like apparels and bags or shoes, eyewear is crafted in the Luxottica factory and not the brand’s own. So what you see at a Sunglass Hut, a Dayal Optical or stores in Emporio are manufactured and supplied solely by Luxottica! Impressive !

~~~ Ms. Coco Queen’s Top Picks & Big Trend~~~
* Top Pick & Big Trend #1: Embellished Sunglasses & Spectacles *
These flower embellished glasses from D&G were’t just mine but everyone present at the event’s favorite piece to try, pose and click! They were all over the runaway and now make way onto the high streets! Can you handle them?
How to wear them? You can either take it easy with your outfit, stick to solids, and let your sunglasses take center stage or you can go full-on mix-master and pair them with complementary patterns in your outfit.
Even though each piece is produced by Luxottica factory, the eyewear collection is in full sync with the A/W collection of the brand.
* Top Pick & Big Trend #2: Retro Cat Eye *
Where floral sets u apart from the flock, retro-inspired cat eye frames actually flatter on a wide variety of face shapes, making them an easy pick and a investment on a classic. This trend continues this season too!
Prada too does the floral sunglasses but I truly adore these avant-garde version of the metal cat’s-eye (Model No. Model VPR 56Q). A concept which starts with baroque and ends with a double free eyelash structure, like wearing the drawing of the eyewear itself. Two words for these spectacles- Simple & Classic.
How To Wear: Dash in some red lip tint and cheek stain, pull back your hair and you are sorted. Cat eye specs is a rest from the nerdy square shape frames, it’s more hotter and vintage! Try now.
These super dapper and elegant cat eye specs can be yours at Rs. 14ooo/- approx. from a Sunglass Hut near you.
* Top Pick & Big Trend #3: Translucent Frames *
Black, brown, red, blue, green and now TRANSLUCENT! Technically not a color but surly a big trend in eye wear this season. These see through shades would truly complement a jewelry laden look or a colorful attire as its so subtle and would never go over board.
How to wear them: Like I said its really not a color hence would go with anything and everything. Crystal Clear Chicas??
If those mammoth floral beauty weren’t of your taste, D&G also has a more demure range with less flowers. Priced at Rs. 23000/- approx., available in two color- Translucent and Black. Be the first to follow this new hot trend.
* Top Pick & Big Trend #4: Aviators *
They are some things that never go out of fashion, just like a LBD, aviators style frames have been & will stay fashionable for a lifetime. Timeless and durable to fit any genre of gender! Way back in 1936 Ray-Ban had specifically built these lenses larger than the average eye to prevent as much light as possible from entering at any angle for military air pilots, hence also known as Pilot glasses.
I love my Ray Ban’s but these twosome had an interesting twist & certainly stand out in the aviator style clutter. These aviator glasses (Model No. AR6005BZ) in ultra-light metal are part of the Giorgio Armani Kaleidoscope collection. Embellished with expertly crafted handmade blinders, entirely covered by sequins and small crystals and the details are inspired by the catwalk’s evening wear. The spoiler is available in two versions.
How To Wear: While these look great with casual looks like shorts and t-shirts. They also complement well when paired with a sleek dress for a street-style appeal.
* Top Pick #5: Colorful *
Dash of color is always a good choice, be it in your life, clothes or now glasses! These color riches not only will perk up your monday blues but also set your fashion palette for the season. What’s better than bright colors in warm weather?
How to wear them: Decide if you want a bold primary color or if a soft pastel is more your style. Then think about how the frames coordinate with your jewelry — you can create a statement with either a complementary or intentionally clashing mix.
Top Pick & Big Trend #6: Rounds
The chicest blast from the past ! These round-ies are truly an eye catcher.
These Emporio Armani round sunglasses in wooden finish were my favorite !
How To Wear Them: This vintage shape is fun for the day, roof top birthday party or a concert. Sadly this beauty will not suit those gorgeous round faces. Wear a knee length floral tea dress, tie a scarf around your hair, dash in some pink lipper and you are ready to rock and roll this eye wear trend !
Like a bag or statement jewelry, eyewear too plays an important role in finishing a look. Not only it protects you from harmful sun rays but also saves you from a no make-up day and even acts like Facebook in really life, allowing you to stare at people without getting caught 😛
After all the clicks, picks and tete-a-tete it was nibble & sip time !
Luxury fashion preview on a nice sunny day over yummy bites and lovely peeps around, indeed a day well spent! Thank you Luxottica India and the team of Weber Shandwick for having me over!
Hope you damsels have picked your favorite piece for this season. Elton John has 2,50,000 pair of glasses and reportedly even asked for a separate room for his glasses during an upcoming show in Brazil!! How may do you own?
Keep counting!
Till then,
LovE,
