Hey Beauty Geeks!
A while back I had the special honor to have a up close tete-a-tete with Bobbi Brown Cosmetic’s elite make up artist Mr. Eliano Bou Assi at Bobbi Brown Select City Walk store. Eliano travelled all the way just to meet and greet Bobbi Brown’s Indian clientele since its launch in India.
India is one of Bobbi’s and my favorite place. Before coming to India we did a year long, extensive preparation. India is not a market for us but a place for inspiration. The Bobbi Brown kajal eye liner is inspired from here, says Eliano.
Bobbi Brown is a celebrity make up artist from New Jersey, USA with First Lady, Michelle Obama & Oprah Winfrey as part of her celebrated clientele list.
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was launched in 1991 and marks its USP as a teaching brand. It lays emphasis on teaching its users the best way to use it its products. They have a wide range of products from skincare, makeup, brushes to books! Bobbi is a writer too. Make-up manuals, tips & tricks and all beauty rules can be found in her series of books.
Taking advantage of the moment I asked Eliano few questions I always had in my mind. Well who better than him! So without wasting much time here is a jist of the rapid fire.
{One}
CQ: One next big make-up trend?
Eliano: Brown is the new black. Brown cherry, rich chocolate lipsticks should be part of your vanity soon.
{Two}
CQ: Suddenly primer has become the new, most important addition in the make up routine?
EBA: Primers are very essential. It keeps the make up application wrinkle free and helps last longer. In addition, glows & moistures the skin. Primer should be applied before the concealer and foundation.
{Three}
CQ: Why do make up products have expiration from ‘when open’?
EBA: Its not that a particular product gets bad over time but for hygiene reasons one should follow the expiration time from first use. As application from dry brush or soiled hands can trouble your skin.
{Four}
CQ: Simplest way to clean make up brushes?
EBA: BB make-up brush cleanser is the easiest way or just dip your brushes into a baby shampoo (without conditioner). Always keep wet brushes upside down to protect the roots from getting wet and insure longer life.
{Five}
CQ:Tips for a great eyebrows?
EBA: Never use a creme pencil instead use a powder eye shadow to fill your brows. The color should be that of your hair, never ever BLACK !
{Six}
CQ: One most comman mistake you see Indian women make in their make up.
EBA: Their choice of concealer and foundation color i.e. they chose a darker concealer and a lighter foundation.
{Seven}
CQ: Tip to choose the correct foundation color.
EBA: Always test your foundation on your chin and not the hand.
{Eight}
CQ: Tip for Contouring?
EBA: People believe contouring means covering the flaws. They try to contour their flaws but end up enhancing them. Try the other way ! Enhance your beauty, keep the focus on the pretty and don’t worry about the flaws. Daily make up doesn”t need contouring its basically TV make up.
{Nine}
CQ: Tip on highlighting?
EBA: Highlighting is shimmer not glitter ! People with large pores should avoid highliting.
Nothing lights up the face like a touch of shimmer. For skin that looks lit-from within, focus on applying Bobbi Brown”s Shimmer Brick on top of the cheekbones. To highlight eyes, apply the lightest shade in the compact just under the browbone. Try award winning Shimmer Brick Compact – Bronze. Never apply a pink eye shadow as it makes one look tired.
Must try list from Ms. Coco Queen:
Award winning Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, its water-resistant , the color glides on & let”s you get it just right before it dries.
Apply it with another award winning product- Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush for precise application.
Award winning Shimmer Brick Compact – Bronze.
Super smooth, Creamy matt lipsticks!
Confidence is everything but a little make up wont hurt !
Until next time,
LOve,
