All things bright and wonderful need to be on the opening blog post of 2015!! Whats better than a beauty post reviewing some scrumptious products and shades from MAC’s latest holiday collection.
Called the Heirloom Mix Holiday Colour Collection, its for the cool, glitter loving royal woman out there. The entire range of this limited-edition collection is encased in black packaging flecked with silver sparkles that perfectly compliment the glam quotient of this collection. As MAC describes- ‘This collection is for the modern woman who mixes up an irreverent take on tradition with this collection of hues that casts the classic cameo in a contemporary, glittering light. A regal, romantic and daring affair, this holiday collection is all about colour that leaves a legacy.
‘Without any further yap-pity-yap lets get onto my thoughts & swatches from the Heirloom Mix collection.
Starting with my favourites- {Drum rolling} THE MAC Lipstickssss.
MAC Salon Rouge Lipstick a clean berry red. All those who wish to join the dark shade bandwagon but skeptical, this colour is a safe bet. Its a deepened, medium to dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. The colour lasted for six and a half hours and left a stain behind. It was slightly drying.

MAC No Faux Pas Lipstick is a bright, fuchsia-red with cool, blue undertones. The colour is deep and rich leaving a hell of a stain. This matte lipstick glides on easily due to its slight creamy consistency but was neither drying nor hydrating for me. It lasted for six and a half hours (no munching/drinking).

MAC Creme Sheen Courting Chic is a lip gloss in deep berry red with gold sparkles. It ranges from medium to dark and is slightly opaque. Non sticky & creamy. It tends to settle down on the lip lines hence best to apply it over a lipstick than using it alone. The gold sparkle makes it a great gloss to finish over other lipsticks. Salon Rogue Lipstick & Creme Sheen Courting Chic make a great pair as it gives a deep, rich colour with subtle shiny effect (as seen in pictures). Alone it lasted for approx. and two and a half hour (without munching/drinking).

Pressed pigments are intensely creamy highlighters offering extreme pearlescence and versatility of finish. Its all that shimmer and shine you need in the name of bling. Best when applied over a an eyeshadow for a dramatic look. It can be applied on dry skin for a sheerer, high-shine finish or applied on damp skin for a more dramatic, wet look. They become more sheer once blended. Fall out is unavoidable in press pigments hence always apply them before your foundation routine for easy clean up.
MAC Regal affair Pressed Pigment comes in a white base with fine opal pearl finish. When used dry its very sheer, sparkly and has quite a bit of fall out. Hence not recommended for eyes wearing lenses. When applied wet, the look was more dramatic with less fall out. The application was smooth but not even. There are other 5 colours in pressed pigments from this collection. I chose the regal affaire for its versatility as a colour over any eyeshadow.
I love blushes!! I think they just light up your face and make you look fresh and prepped up!
I picked up MAC Sweet Sentiment Mineralised Blush, its described as a rosy pink. The mineralised blush formula provides exceptionally sheer and lightweight application. Colour builds lightly, layer after layer, without heavy coverage. Enhances cheekbones with a luminous, pearlized shimmer. This blush is wearable both day and night and gives a nice dewy pink flush on your face.

My favourites from the collection are the Salon Rogue lipstick and the Sweet Sentiment blush on. Which one is yours!? Do leave a comment below
Until then,
